Lenten pastry, cooked without eggs and sour cream, can be very tasty, and proof of this - a lean charlotte with apples. Ingredients:

  • 3-4 large apples (I usually choose sweet and sour varieties for Charlotte);
  • sugar powder (you can also use a bit of ground cinnamon);
  • semolina or bread crumbs;
  • 250 grams of wheat flour;
  • half a teaspoon of salt;
  • 130 grams of sugar;
  • 150 milliliters of orange juice;
  • 0.3 cups of any vegetable oil;
  • 30 milliliters of vinegar or lemon juice;
  • one teaspoon of baking soda, dissolved in two tablespoons of water.

Lenten charlotte with apples. Step-by-step recipe

  1. Carefully wash my apples under running water. Cut out the core and black spots. I do not clean the skin so that the pieces of apple remain intact.
  2. We cut apples into thin pieces.
  3. To bake a lean charlotte without eggs, I use a form with a special non-stick coating. Sprinkle the form with semolina or breadcrumbs to prevent the cake from stuck and burnt.
  4. Spread evenly on the shape of apples. So that there is no free space.
  5. In a large bowl, mix sugar, salt, pour orange juice, vinegar and vegetable oil.
  6. Whisk the mass until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  7. Add the sifted flour. All thoroughly mixed until a homogeneous dough is obtained. The consistency of the dough should be slightly thicker than sour cream. I prefer to use a mixer, so that there are no lumps of flour and butter.
  8. In a separate cup, mix the soda with water.
  9. Add the solution to the dough and stir again.
  10. We fill the apples with the resulting test. We level with a spatula or knife.
  11. Bake charlotte in a preheated to 190 degrees oven until cooked. (Readiness is checked with a wooden stick or toothpick). A ready-made apple charlotte is left to stand in a warm place for one hour.
  12. When the fruit pie is cooled, you can take it out of shape and turn it over.
  13. For decoration, sprinkle with powdered sugar. (Powder can be prepared by yourself, with a blender, from ordinary sugar). Since we were preparing a pie from sweet and sour apples, adding a little sweetness will not be superfluous.
